2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Jeanne Burnett Gunter is a licensed minister with the Louisiana District and serves on the Louisiana Women’s Committee. She is passionately involved at the Sulphur United Pentecostal Church as part of Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry and event coordination.
Having been a “Bible College spouse” and pastor’s wife for 20 years, she is sensitive to the needs of ministry women. Her secular career in the legal field (insurance defense litigation) is challenging and allows her to identify with the bi-vocational woman.
The Gunter family is comprised of her husband, David, Danae (age 20) and Zane (age 19) as well as an oversized chocolate lab, Cameaux. Jeanne grew up in the Deep South of Louisiana where her father pioneered a church in a small fishing village. Spending her formative years in the establishment of a church gives her versatility and a sense of frugal innovativeness.
Jeanne brings her latest, “unwelcome” passion to Points of Refuge Ministry. Several years ago her world was rocked with the revelation of her husband’s infidelity. The subsequent resignation from pastoring and multiple life changes are unexplainable. In the hours and days following the devastating news, Jeanne yearned deeply to hear someone say “I have EXPERIENCED what you are going through and stand as a testament that you will not only survive, but thrive”.
After separation and extensive counseling, Jeanne and David have elected to continue with their marriage and provide a family unit for Zane and Danae. Jeanne uses her experiences to offer encouragement to those in adultery recovery and to multi-vocational women.
